Speech II - Self Control & Practicing Good Sense
This presentation is our Speech II because it engages the young audience to think about the concept of self-governing. We will discuss the importance of "Choices", cause and affect/consequences, self-control, managing impulses, vices and emotions. The world will offer many temptations and we will bring home the importance of sticking to your established moral code in order to NOT fall into any traps out there. Drugs and Alcohol, as well as other addictions, will be part of this presentation. "It's not hard to make decisions once you know what your values are." Roy Disney (the nephew of Walt Disney)
h The character building discussion from the Foundation Speech will be re-visited and the importance of honouring your “core values”, putting your values in order. An example is, if Family comes before Money on your list of values, you never choose to do something for money before considering the affect if will have on your family. All thoughts and actions should be made with intent, maintaining a vision and desire to live a good life…what does “a good life” look like? It is important to maintain that vision. Achieving health, wealth, love and happiness will require a dedication to the goals and outcomes one desires. The Virtues of Temperance, Prudence are featured.
